"I don't want to be sleeping all day and get poured on the stage because I had so much to drink the night before," bassist Mark Wilson told Spin magazine last fall.
Yeah, well, about that ...
"I guess it's working for some people," guitarist Cam Muncey said last week in a phone interview from his London home. "I haven't seen too much of a curtailment of partying."
What about him personally?
"I'm a boozer," he said, laughing.
One thing that has changed about the Aussie band since its 3.5-million-selling 2003 debut, "Get Born," is its sound. "Shine On" has full-tilt rockers in the style of "Get Born"'s "Cold Hard *****" and "Are You Gonna Be My Girl," but there are also introspective ballads, an Everly Brothers tribute and even an attempt at a Curtis Mayfield vocal.
A big reason for this was that the band's leaders -- brothers Nic Cester, vocals/guitar, and Chris Cester, drums -- lost their father to cancer in 2004, just as Jet began to take off. The rigorous touring schedule left scant time for grieving.
Then they had to make another CD.
