Stop Japan They Are Killing Whales! News |

WE CAN DO THIS!!!
PLEASE SIGN THE PLEDGE BELOW TO BOYCOTT JAPAN UNTIL THE KILLING ENDS! MONEY TALKS!
Holding
the kanji symbol of the year, nise, meaning FAKE – against the hull of
the Japanese whaling fleet's factory ship Nisshin Maru, Japan whales
campaigner Sakyo Noda sent a message to the people of Japan that this
is yet another in a series of scandals that their government is trying
to cover up by claiming that its whaling program is legitimate research.
Today,
one of the leading newspapers in Japan, Asahi Shimbun, also called into
question the validity of the whaling program, by asking "Why is the
Japanese government so insistent on engaging in whaling?".
The article
cites concerns about the use of taxpayer's money, dubious science, the
lack of interest from the fishing industry in supporting the whaling
program, and the fact that former employees of the Japanese government
Fisheries Agency were "parachuted" into key roles in the supposedly
independent Institute of Cetacean Research – the agency which
commissions the whaling fleet.

LaFoi.com Navy sonar testing off Isles faces latest court hearing today
By William Cole, Honoulu Advertiser, February 11, 2008
The contentious issue of Navy sonar and its effects on marine mammals has again been in the courts and news recently.
It is
environmentalists 2, Navy 0 in the latest round of West Coast federal
court decisions, with a hearing scheduled today before U.S. District
Judge David Ezra in Honolulu.
Last Monday, a federal judge in
Los Angeles rejected a decision by President Bush granting an exemption
to the Navy in the use of midfrequency sonar, saying there was no
emergency to justify overriding environmental law.
U.S.A. District
Judge Florence Marie Cooper said the Navy must abide by an order
prohibiting the use of sub-hunting sonar in whale-populated areas off
the California coast.
On Wednesday, a federal court in San
Francisco issued a preliminary injunction limiting where the Navy can
use a low-frequency sonar known as the Surveillance Towed Array Sensor
System Low Frequency Active sonar, or SURTASS LFA.
