The intense shaking was felt across major cities including Cali, Pereira, Manizales, Quibdó, and Bogotá. Around 1,600 buildings were damaged nationwide, with dozens of structures reportedly collapsing completely. Cali and Pereira were among the hardest-hit cities, with major structural damage and rescue operations underway. Pereira’s airport temporarily suspended operations after parts of the terminal were damaged, while several other airports underwent safety inspections. Roads and communications were disrupted in parts of Chocó, complicating access to some affected areas. Numerous aftershocks have been recorded, and seismologists warn that more could follow. Rescue crews and engineers continue inspecting buildings and critical infrastructure as authorities assess the full scale of the damage.
