Located high in the Titiwangsa Mountains, Genting Highlands combines cool weather, mountain scenery, theme parks, shopping, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment in one destination. What I like about Genting Highlands is that it does not require a complicated travel plan. It is close enough to Kuala Lumpur for a day trip but has enough attractions to justify staying for a night or two.

Another major reason to visit Genting Highlands is its convenience.
You do not need to spend an entire day traveling to reach the mountains. From Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands is close enough to make a practical day trip or weekend getaway.
That makes it especially appealing if you have limited time in Malaysia.
If your main base is Kuala Lumpur, you can easily add Genting Highlands to your itinerary without having to completely rearrange your trip. You could head up in the morning, spend the day exploring, and return to Kuala Lumpur in the evening.
Personally, though, I think staying overnight makes the experience more enjoyable. There is something nice about not having to rush. You can enjoy the attractions during the day, have dinner, explore the resort after sunset, and wake up the following morning surrounded by cool mountain air.
The journey to Genting is part of the fun, too. As you leave the city behind, the landscape gradually becomes greener and more mountainous.
