Yorkie’s Over-the-Top Daycare Drama Has the Internet Laughing

One dog mom’s hilarious daycare update has gone viral after her Yorkie, Ben, put on a dramatic performance that had her joking about quitting her job just to comfort him.

Owner Nicolette Ibarra knows her tiny Yorkshire Terrier can’t stand being left alone, so she takes him to doggy daycare whenever she heads to work. While Ben is used to the routine, he’s still a Yorkie—small, expressive, and always eager to let the world know how he feels.

Ibarra shared the now-viral clip on her TikTok account @nicoletteibarra00, where it racked up over 624,000 views and nearly 46,000 likes. In the video, a daycare worker approaches Ben’s kennel as his piercing howls echo through the building. Sitting alone and looking utterly heartbroken, Ben quickly captured viewers’ sympathy. Ibarra captioned the post: “Looks like I’m quitting.”

The reality behind Ben’s theatrics was far less tragic. Ibarra explained that he wasn’t being neglected—he was simply separated so he could eat his dinner. “We recently started bringing him dinner to eat there at 5 p.m.,” she said. “He’s never eaten at daycare before, so they feed him separately.” Unfortunately for Ben, 5 p.m. is also playtime for the other pups. While they romped and played, he was left to finish his meal alone, suffering a full-blown case of FOMO.

Daycare staff reassured that Ben was only in the kennel for about ten minutes before rejoining his friends, but it was long enough for his heart-wrenching cries to be caught on camera and shared with the world.

The comment section quickly filled with laughter and knowing nods. One viewer wrote, “I knew he was a Yorkie before I even saw him—they all have separation anxiety!” Another joked, “I would have told my boss I had a family emergency and gone to pick up my baby.”

Despite the online debate, Ibarra emphasized that Ben is very well cared for. At home, he’s spoiled with love and attention, and since the viral video, he’s been spending time at his grandma’s house where he gets non-stop cuddles and companionship.
