Mother's Day is quickly approaching, and if your mother is anything like mine, she has a whole list of garden chores she’s been champing at the bit to get to. My mom has always told me to wait until after Mothers Day to transplant seedlings and clean up my garden.
The last frost date for my USDA hardiness zone is technically April 25, but, here in the Midwest, there always seems to be a late frost that sneaks up. There’s nothing sadder than babying seedlings indoors for months only to have them ruined overnight by a cold snap after you’ve transplanted them. This year, Mother's Day is May 10, so I am waiting until then to get my garden projects fully underway. My mom’s advice hasn’t failed me yet!
