Laguna Colorada is a shallow saline lake in Bolivia's Altiplano, famous for its crimson-to-red waters caused by algae, red sediments, and minerals. At over 4,200 meters (about 14,000 feet) elevation, the lagoon hosts pink flamingos that feed on its plankton-rich waters, in a landscape with white borax islands, volcanoes and arid highlands.
