Andy Burnham's possible route back to Westminster has been revealed after former minister Josh Simons has announced he will stand aside in his Makerfield seat in Greater Manchester, triggering a by-election which he says he wants Burnham to contest and win. Burnham is currently mid-way through a term as mayor of Greater Manchester, but is looking for a way back to parliament.
