The major glacial collapse in Nepal on August 26th 2026 led to catastrophic flash floods which were more than 50 meters high in spots. Thousands of structures were likely destroyed or damaged, and the cost of this disaster will likely run into the billions. But, with a similar disaster having occurred in 2021 in Nepal, could detailed monitoring help detect the next similar repeat disaster in the country before it happens? Today's video will explore this possibility, keeping in mind the realism of the situation. This video's thumbnail image displays a much smaller flood from Nepal in a prior year (not 2026).
