The August 26th 2026 landslide and destructive flood brought significant levels of destruction. Yet, this type of disaster is not unique to Nepal. It can theoretically occur outside of the country, with for example one nearly carbon copy of this disaster occurring in India in 2021. Note: Not every or even most areas shown in this video are likely to suffer a similar disaster to what occurred in Nepal on August 26th 2026. However, areas are mentioned as they can in theory have such a disaster happen, whereas a spot without any permafrost or glacial cover, and were not covered by glaciers in the Pleistocene (such as Florida which meets none of those criteria) cannot experience this type of disaster. My designation of risk areas is much like telling a person in Nevada that they are more likely to experience earthquake hazards than someone living in the United Kingdom. This video is meant to make people think about potential geological risks in a given area. This video's title is also implying that this type of disaster has occurred before in the world, and will occur again in the future. It is not implying a risk of another imminent disaster of the same nature in Nepal. This is meant to mean that similar disasters have occurred before in the world, and likely will occur again in the future somewhere in the world.
