Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayIn southern Belize, harsher dry seasons and declining pasture productivity are challenging smallholder cattle farmers and forest ecosystems. To adapt, the Belize Livestock Producers Association (BLPA), with support from the UNDP-Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA), is promoting silvopastoral systems that integrate trees, forage plants and livestock. Through farmer field schools in the Toledo and Stann Creek Districts, 114 farmers including 30 women have adopted rotational grazing, forage and seed banks, and tree-rich pastures. These climate-smart practices are improving pasture coverage, strengthening livestock productivity and reducing pressure on surrounding forests.
