Two earthquakes were widely felt across the Azores Island of Terceira, striking on the same day that the alert level was raised at the Santa Barbara volcano. Seismic activity seems to be approaching near peak 2024 levels, all due to magma movement which has intruded to at its shallowest 2 miles below sea level. This video will discuss the ongoing volcanic unrest at the Terceira volcano through the opinion and analysis of a geologist. Note: This video's thumbnail image does NOT display the area where magma is shallowest (below ground). As a reminder: There is absolutely no reason to panic; the unrest at Terceira is still fairly weak despite the presence of at depth magma. Other unrest episodes have occurred beforehand, and most of these did not result in eruptions.
