Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayHeavy rains that battered northern Veracruz caused severe flooding in Poza Rica after the Cazones River burst its banks and washed away streets, homes, and businesses. The water inundated entire streets, swept away cars, and cut off several neighborhoods, including Cazones, Petromex, and the city center. Thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed as the torrent of water rushed through the streets, sweeping away cars, while highways were blocked by debris and power was knocked out. According to the National Water Commission (Conagua), rainfall in the region exceeded 150 millimeters in less than 24 hours, considered extraordinary. The military was deployed to assist the flood-affected areas, deploying more than 5,400 troops, along with rescue equipment and vehicles. Shelters were opened for people displaced from their homes. In 2025, Mexico suffered from particularly heavy rainfall, with the country's capital, Mexico City, recording record rainfall. Tropical Storm Raymond sat off the country’s Pacific coast as of Saturday, dumping heavy rains as it moved north. Damage from that storm was reported in the states of Chiapas, Guerrero, Oaxaca and Michoacan.
