China is facing massive flooding in Fujian after prolonged torrential rain. Fifty rivers have exceeded dangerous levels, with flooding recorded at 74 hydrological stations. Putian, Fuzhou, Quanzhou and Ningde are among the hardest-hit areas. In Putian, floodwater breached a protective embankment and rushed into nearby villages and an industrial zone. In Huating Town, part of Putian, more than 100 homes collapsed in the flooding, while roads and bridges were also damaged. A total of 599,300 people have been evacuated from dangerous areas. Rescuers are using boats and drones to reach residents trapped by rising water. More than 5 million cubic meters of floodwater have already been pumped out in Putian.
