Silhouettes
Looking upward through sunlight, sharks often see dark outlines rather than detailed images.

Confidence

Sharks don’t have hands.
If they’re curious about something unfamiliar, one of the few ways they can investigate is with their mouths. This doesn’t necessarily mean the shark intended to eat the object.
In many cases, researchers believe a single investigative bite provides the shark with enough information to realise the unfamiliar object isn’t suitable prey.
Unfortunately, because sharks possess extremely powerful jaws and rows of serrated teeth, even an exploratory bite can cause devastating injuries.
Importantly, repeat attacks are uncommon.
Once the shark has gathered enough information, it frequently leaves.

Great White Sharks
Great White Sharks remain among the world’s most studied predators.
Although sightings in False Bay have declined significantly over recent years due to complex ecological changes, Great Whites remain fascinating examples of specialised hunters.
Their behaviour reflects remarkable patience, precision and intelligence rather than indiscriminate aggression.
