Update! New lava eruption in Iceland. Fagradalsfjall Volcano Eruption (July 8, 2021). In Geldingadalir lava moved parallel to the western base of Gónhóll, stopping not too far from its southwestern base. In Syðri-Meradalur lava crossed the valley, passed the spot where the old western dam was, and flowed on the northern slope of Nátthagi, stopping and cooling down before it reached the bottom of the valley. The same evening lava flowed on the northern slope of Nátthagi other two times, overlapping the previous flows. Just the last one reached the bottom of the valley, stopping in the early morning of July 3rd. The lava flow that moved towards Meradalir flowed straight inside the lava tube system before breaking out in the valley. Many skylights were visible along the tubes. The Icelandic Meteorological Office detected that the eruption almost went out that morning and detected unrest rising again around an hour before the lava was spotted. Soon after, webcam confirmed simmering lava flows. 🔥 LAVA DESTROYS the DIKE in Iceland. Big Lava Eruption! https://youtu.be/booj_4meuoA 🔥 LARGE Lava Explosion!
