Last night, thunderstorms and torrential rain lashed Marseille and the entire Bouches-du-Rhône region, causing floodwaters that inundated streets. The first images emerged on social media that evening. This included the Old Port, completely submerged. The city of Cassis was also not spared from this disaster. By the end of the day, 300 homes between Avignon and Carpentras were without power. In Vaucluse and Bouches-du-Rhône, the number had reached nearly 10,000. Enedis crews worked throughout the evening to resolve the situation. Météo-France recorded up to 127 millimeters of rainfall in Avignon, including 108 millimeters in three hours; 92 millimeters in Aix-en-Provence, much of it in less than an hour; and 94 millimeters in an hour in Toulon, where the storm continued into the evening.
