To everything there is a season. March kicks off frog singing season in Pennsylvania.

The Instagram video below shows song phenology for March through August for these frogs:

• Spring peeper (Pseudacris crucifer) a chorus frog –> listen here
• Wood frog (Lithobates sylvaticus) quacking sound –> listen here
• Boreal chorus frog (Pseudacris maculata), not in PA –> listen here
• Northern leopard frog (Lithobates pipiens) weird sound –> listen here

Spring peepers and wood frogs start the show.

Next in line is the northern leopard frog with, in my view, the weirdest sound of all.
