A lava field is growing on the north flank of Russia's Krasheninnikov volcano, which was triggered to erupt by an earlier magnitude 8.8 earthquake. This lava flow covers nearly 100 acres, and is still expanding. Elsewhere, the Klyuchevskoy volcano is producing 500 meter high lava fountains, which are occurring atop its more than 15,000 foot high summit peak. Today's video will discuss these ongoing events through the opinion and analysis of a geologist. Note: This video's thumbnail image displays an aa lava flow in Hawaii from the Kilauea volcano in 2018. I chose this image because its appearance is roughly similar to the currently expanding Krasheninnikov lava flow.
