The problem with illegal migrants arriving in the UK on small boats "remains formidable", a Home Office minister has said. Official figures show more than 25,000 people have arrived on small boats so far in 2025 - a record for this point in the year. "This is an issue that is very complex and there's no one silver bullet that's going to fix it," Angela Eagle said.
