Some of the freakiest, creepiest and scariest tornadoes I've ever caught on camera. From weird rope tornadoes and drill bits, to night tornado nightmares and scary tornado sirens. If you're terrified of tornadoes, perhaps sit this one out :) SCRIPT: Tornadoes often manifest as haunting cone-shaped silhouettes and sometimes as ghostly white cylinders and other times as a massive, dreaded wedge. But there’s something EXTRA freaky about skinny tornadoes. Perhaps it's their formidable dance, writhing and squirming like something alive. Tornadoes are frightening, but with the scream of a siren, they become extra creepy. The most terrifying tornadoes are close but invisible. This video reveals the creepiest, the freakiest and the scariest tornadoes. ROPE TORNADOES Especially thin tornadoes are often referred to as ropes. Rope tornadoes can appear like something straight out of science fiction, like the proboscis of a colossal insect feeding on Earth. Developing tornadoes can sometimes be thin, but thin tornadoes are most often associated with the dissipating stage. When a tornado gets separated from the warm buoyant air near the ground that it needs to exist, it can suddenly vanish. Other times, dissipation is a more lengthy process. As the vortex is slowly stretched thinner and thinner, it bends and twists with the storm’s currents, often doing a death wiggle during its final gasp. This is referred to as the rope phase and you might even say the tornado is roping out. Some ropes are freakishly long and thin. When a tornado enters the dissipating rope phase, its time in this world is usually coming to an end. But not always a large, powerful tornado near Alpena South Dakota suddenly entered a rope phase. The snaky vortex bended and swayed as it narrowed but then, started thickening in girth and continued to terrorize South Dakota for some time. THE STRONGEST TORNADO Just because a tornado is narrow doesn’t mean it's not powerful. On May 21, 20-24, a Doppler On Wheels (DOW6) calculated wind speeds as high as 309-318 mph in a tornado when it was said to have been unusually small and narrowing. These calculations are AMONG the highest wind speeds ever determined in a tornado. DRILLBIT TORNADOES When a tornado is narrow and powerful, it can appear to be drilling into the earth as it spews debris. These tornadoes are often referred to as drill bits. TORNADO SIRENS The scream of a tornado siren amplifies the freaky factor. North of Dodge City on May 24th 2016, was an apocalyptic scene. Two tornadoes were on the ground while two harmonizing tornado sirens unleashed a chorus from hell. TORNADOES IN TREES The less visible the monster, the more frightening it is.Worrying if an unseen tornado is going to suddenly crash through the trees next to you Is a terrifying situation. TORNADOES AT NIGHT Tornadoes at Night are truly Nightmares. Obviously they are especially dangerous because they’re more difficult to see and may occur when people are more unaware or sleeping. In the veiling darkness, lightning flashes may give glimpses of on ongoing tornado, but sometimes, very little lightning activity may be occurring. If a tornado impacts electrical power lines, a power flash may briefly light it up. THE FASTEST MOVING TORNADO EVER DOCUMENTED Perhaps the freakiest tornado in this video occurred back in 2014. After devastating the town of Pilger Nebraska, the deadly tornado eventually entered a rope phase. But this tornado wasn’t nearly finished menacing the world. It re-intensified increased girth and caused more EF4 rated damage. It then got slingshot past another developing tornado and accelerated to a record breaking forward speed of 94.6 mph. THE SCARIEST TORNADO Come to think of it pretty much all tornadoes can be creepy but To this day, the scariest tornadoes I’ve ever seen, occurred back in 2017 near Canton Texas, and deserve their own video. A massive EF4 and EF3 were crashing through forested terrain FAST. If you suffer from lilapsophopbia, which is an excessive fear of tornadoes and hurricanes, best sit this one out.
