The following changes have been made. The forecast center is still closed on Sunday, and will be closed on Saturday as well (unless there is a threat from a tropical system). Please refer to the Storm Prediction Center for severe weather information.

ECMWF EPS MJO PHASE SPACE DIAGRAM FORECAST
Based on my analysis this morning, as shown above, there is no change in the MJO forecast. The updated MJO phase space diagram forecast indicates the MJO is forecast to stall in phases 2 and 3, with members indicating a strong signal. This would have a tendency to suggest that we should see another area of tropical development, as these phases are considered the most favorable.
However, the global models and A.I. models are not really indicating any cyclone development anytime soon, which is a little perplexing to me as the pattern of strong high pressure over the northern portion of the U.S. will usually allow for lowering pressures and development of low pressure in the areas shown above. I guess this will be a “test” of these MJO phases, and I’ll have to actually see what or what doesn’t occur.
Analysis of the 3 global models this morning still show a lowering of MSLP anomalies IVO the Bahamas in approximately 72 hours, but have backed off somewhat on a developing low pressure system.
I will continue monitoring the situation during the next 5 – 7 days.

The Mechanism: The right rear entrance region features an ageostrophic wind component that pulls air northward toward the jet core, creating massive horizontal divergence aloft. [1, 2]
